Well it's been a short week here in Beijing. Tomorrow is our last day of the week (Thursday) because Friday is a Chinese Holiday, so we have a long weekend. We were thinking to head out of town to the Shan Xi Province to visit the town of Ping Yao, but we were a bit late in making our reservations for train and such, so we have decided to stay in Beijing. We are planning on checking out the acrobats, head to another section of the Great Wall and see a few things around town. There is so much to see in Beijing that we could stay in town for months before touching the surface.
The heading of the blog is a pretty funny/miserable story. This week our district decided to shut the hot water off to clean the rust out of the pipes. The hot water was off from Monday morning until this afternoon (Wednesday). I woke up Tuesday morning to find Greg boiling up 4 pots of water to pour into the bath tub to take a little sponge bath; the things you do for hot water. It's already freezing in our apartment and a cold shower would just be awful. This morning Nicole woke up and walked into the kitchen with the quote of the week: "you boiling up some bath". This morning I decided just to use some boiled water to shave and wash my face, so tomorrow morning's shower will be pretty sweet.
We started our first Chinese class tonight after work taught by Jan in our office. It was a huge help just with this first class, but it seems like it may be pretty hardcore. She is planning on hammering us with a lot of homework and such, but it will be good. We really want to learn the language or at least enough to order, shop, and feel comfortable. Anyway, that's about all for this work week. I have been continuing designing the Childrens Playground and should be wrapping that up in the next couple days. Hope all is well back home and everyone is staying away from the Swine. Everyone in the office keeps asking about it and making pig noises when describing it; pretty funny.
